We have really been enjoying Murfreesboro and visiting with Carol and her family. Carol's house is very cute and is a perfect size for her. Mom and Carol have been camping out(well, actually camping in the living room)...believe it or not, Mom W claimed the padded cot for herself and has been sleeping soundly every night. She hasn't had a single backache or side ache and we intend to keep her that way. She hunkers down under a really heavy thick blanket and is perfectly comfortable, while Carol sleeps on the couch in lightweight PJs and minimal covers. Mom's constitution sure has changed, now she's the one with the chills instead of being the one who is too warm. Dad puts on a sweater and is comfortable, too. We try to reach a happy medium for everyone when it comes to the temperature in cars and houses along our journey. So far, it's all working well.
My brother, Mike, had told us about Bell Buckle, TN when we were still in Mississippi. Bell Buckle is a little town....a really little town....that has a few little eating places, some antique and craft stores and is known for its RC Cola/Moon Pie Festival. ---If you are in this area on June 15th, you should plan on attending.---:) Carol said she really, really wants to go this year, so you'd have company!! They make a huge moon pie for the event. So, if you are a "moon pie lover", this would be the festival for you. Every little store carries moon pies in every flavor, but we forgot to buy one before we left Bell Buckle.....we think we will go to the Cracker Barrel Restaurant today and getting a box of moon pies. Eating a moon pie is a "must do"before we leave this area.
Michael, Colleen, and their 2 sons (Jack and Nicholas) joined us in Bell Buckle for the day. It was the first time that Mom W met Jack and Nick....2 of her great-granchildren. She was very anxious to have the opportunity to see them. It was also the first time that I met Colleen and it had been more than 20 years since I'd seen Michael. The day was fun. We ate at the Bell Buckle Cafe and were entertained by the waitress who carried a stack of glasses filled with our cold drinks to the table. We had to take a picture! After walking around a bit, we went to the Blue Bird Antique store/Ice Cream Parlor. The building used to be a grocery store with an ice cream fountain. The store is operated by 4th generation owners. We all enjoyed some of that good ice cream and the old-time ambience.
Jack (the 5 year old)...not Jack (the 61 year old)....showed off the boo-boo on his forehead. He decided to place a suction cup on his forehead and it left a nice round bruise which is now immortalized in one of our pictures. Nick and (little) Jack are very cute and "full of it". They keep their Mom & Dad quite busy with their antics. They enjoyed getting blue tongues while eating their pacifier-type lollipops. Both boys are very sweet and their great-grandma really enjoyed spending some time with them as well as Colleen and Michael. Their old great-uncle Jack and I (as well as Dad) enjoyed them, too. They got along really well with little Cubby when we returned to the house for pizza that night.
Cherie, Corey & Emily joined us for the evening, too. Emily is a beautiful little girl and is totally in love with everything about horses. She is quite the rider, as we have heard. Everyone is making an effort to spend as much time as possible with us and we really appreciate the opportunity to see everyone and have been enjoying everything there is about Tennessee....even the weather! More about that in the next blog....

Bell Buckle looks like a neat place!! I would have a fun time taking pictures there.
Big Jack (the 61-year old) is also full of it. If I recall correctly, he once had a bruise on his forward similar to the one little Jack has, also from a suction cup, but his was from the business end of a plunger.
thank goodness for steady hands and good balance. you guys would have been soaked.
